The Ceramics Program, Office for the Arts at Harvard welcomes artists Cathy Lu and Forrest Sincoff Gard to its Artist In Residence Program for the 2023-24 year. Audrey An, an Artist In Residence in 2022-23, will stay on for an additional year. The 2023-24 Artist In Residence program runs from September 2023 through August 2024.

Cathy Lu

Cathy Lu (she/they) is a ceramic artist working in sculpture and installation to explore Asian-American identity, and how issues of immigration, cultural hybridity, and assimilation become part of American identity. She has participated in artist in residence programs at Recology SF, Archie Bray, and Bemis Center. Her work was recently exhibited at Chinese Culture Center SF, / Slash Art Gallery SF, and Galerie Du Monde in Hong Kong. Lu was a 2019 Asian Cultural Council/ Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation Fellow and a 2022 SFMOMA Seca Award winner. She currently teaches ceramics at SMFA at Tufts University, and lives between Richmond, CA and Boston, MA. cathyclu.com

Forrest Sincoff Gard

Forrest Sincoff Gard earned his BFA from Ohio University, completed post-baccalaureate studies at the University of Florida, and received his MFA from Louisiana State University. He has shown his ceramic art and interactive installations in exhibitions across the United States, Europe, and South Korea. Forrest taught ceramics in Italy as part of the University of Georgia’s Cortona program and most recently at the University of North Georgia. Forrest was awarded the NCECA International Residency at ASP in Wroclaw, Poland, as well as residencies at Red Lodge Clay Center and Mill Hill Community Arts Center. forrestgard.weebly.com

Audrey An

Audrey An’s creative research revolves around the notion of applying digital technologies to ceramics from the perspective of ‘convergence’, be it cultural, technological, or interdisciplinary. She earned her BFA and Art History Minor from Alfred University, MFA from Penn State University, and was a post-baccalaureate student at Colorado State University. Recently, she was selected as Ceramics Monthly 2023 Emerging Artist, and Open Studio Resident at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts to attend its summer residency. audreyan.com
